King Dong dips us into the aesthetically manicured world of never-known comedy filmmaker Len Cella. Making films and videos since the 1960s, this one-man production unit makes the lowest-brow art with all the seriousness of an auteur. His apartment is a living film set, his day job as a house painter is interrupted by stints on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and growing old only makes him stronger- physically and artistically. Come take a VHS-tinted glimpse into Broomall, Pennsylvania’s comedy shorts anti-legend.

So, he’s from Broomall….interesting. I wish I was in LA to watch the film but I’m on the other side of the country at the moment. Are there any other places to watch it online, like on Netflix or a film website or something? I hope the screening goes well!
Hi Nicole!
Sorry for the late reply! Simon has to keep it off the Internet as he travels festivals, but here is the IMDb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1797426/
He said he would contact you and perhaps try to send a DVD? The film just won the Audience Award for best short doc at the Arizona Film Festival so that’s quite cool!
Thanks again! =]
Thanks for letting me know about the update on this King Dong movie. I’ll post a congratulatory announcement on my blog tomorrow for my Film Festival Wednesdays series. I can understand keeping it offline during the film festival run, so hopefully it will screen near my town but he is welcome to send a DVD otherwise. Thanks again!
Hi Nicole, all, FYI this documentary is now online here:
Thanks so much, Simon! =] Hope you’re well!
Hi Simon,
Thanks for the update on the film. I’ll check it out this weekend 🙂
